What does morning sickness feel like?

Introduction

Morning sickness has other names such as pregnancy sickness or nausea/ vomiting of pregnancy. In the drama series, it is common that morning sickness is a sign of being pregnant with some women.

Causes of morning sickness

Despite being called morning sickness, nausea and vomiting can occur at every time of a day, morning, at noon and even in the evening. The precise cause of morning sickness has not been discovered, but hormonal changes contribute to morning sickness.

•  Estrogen and progesterone levels: The level of estrogen during pregnancy is 100 times higher than normal. A high amount of progesterone during pregnancy also loosens up the uterus, as well as stomach and intestine which makes stomach acid level rise and causes GERD, also known as acid reflux.

• Some experts show the proper connection between hCG, a hormone used to identify pregnancy.

When does morning sickness start?

As mentioned before, most women have nausea gravid-arum in the first trimester of pregnancy, but the exact time for morning sickness is around the sixth week of pregnancy. The period of having morning sickness is different, too. It is between the twelfth to sixteenth week. However, some women go through nausea feeling till the born of their babies.

What does morning sickness feel like?

It is not a weird question because not everyone can experience it. Feeling nausea at any time of the day, then vomiting or not is a common symptom of morning sickness. Sometimes, aversion to a special odor triggers nauseous outburst, such as coffee, alcohol or smoking.

According to some pregnant women, who experience morning sickness, in reality, feeling like a hangover without an end in sight is the most accurate answer, accompanying with sickness, mild headache, and stomach cramp. They feel sick and nausea all day and the condition becomes better once sleeping.

Some women already report that vomiting a little bit can stop nauseous feeling for a while. However, not every woman vomits after feeling nausea. And the sickness still goes on all day.

Accompanying with nausea and vomiting is stomach cramp which is described as a menstrual cramp. It is explained by the fetus growth causing pressure on the wall of the uterus. However, you should pay attention to this symptom because severe abdominal pain is a danger sign of pregnancy. Call your doctor or physician to have a check-up as soon as possible.

Diarrhea is also mentioned during pregnancy. The sensitivity to food might cause mild to moderate diarrhea. You should report to your doctor when the symptom does not seem to stop for several days. Moreover, heartburn and burning sensation make expected mother rough days. The feeling that you almost vomit but not is very annoying, as the food along with acidic stomach juice stuck in your esophagus, which creates heartburn. Avoid eating food which can trigger esophagus reflux is your advice.
