Here are some of the world’s famous islands which attract the attention of the people who love visiting nature’s beauty:

1. Palawan, Philippines: officially known as the Province of Palawan, it is an island state of Philippines situated in the MIMAROPA region or Region 4. The islands of Palawan
have a total length of 450 kilometers and are 50 kilometers wide; they stretch from Mindoro in the northeast to Borneo in the southwest.

2. Bora Bora island: Located about 230 kilometers (143 miles) to the northwest of Papeete, Bora Bora Island is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. It is one of the
most famous tourist destinations known for its aqua- centric luxurious resorts. Bora Bora proudly boasts to be one of the most famous islands across the world.

3. Maui, Hawaii: Known to be the second largest of the Hawaii Islands, The island of Maui is spread across an area of 727.2 square miles. It is the 17th largest island in the
United States. In 2010, the population of Maui was 144,444 which was the third-highest of the Hawaiian Islands.

4. Santorini, Greece: located between Ios and Anafi islands , Santorini ,Greece, is a volcanic island situated in the Cyclades group of the spectacular Greek islands. It is
highly famous for its picturesque view, beautiful sunsets from the Oia town & the strange white aubergine (eggplant).

Prince Edward Island, Canada: This island has numerous informal names, such as the “Garden of the Gulf” which refers to the amazing scenery and the lush green agricultural lands spread across the province. It is also known as the “Birthplace of Confederation” or the “Cradle of Confederation” The major backbone of the economy is farming, it produces 25% of Canada’s potatoes.

6. Bali: Bali is the smallest province in Indonesia, it includes a few small neighboring islands such as Nusa Penida. According to the 2010 census it had a population of
3,890,757 . Itis a home to most of Indonesia’s Hindu minority. It is mostly known to be a tourist haven and attracts a large segment of tourists every year.

7. Kauai, Hawaii: is geologically the oldest part of the main Hawaiian Islands. It has an area of 562.3 square miles It is also known as the “Garden Isle” According to the 2012 census, the population of the island was 67,091.

8. Sicily, Italy: Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It constitutes an autonomous region of Italy and is located in the central Mediterranean. The most prominent landmark is Sicily is Mount Etna, which is at 3,320 m and is the tallest active volcano in Europe. The island is known to have a typical Mediterranean climate.

9. Koh Samui Island, Thailand: simply referred to as Samui by locals, Koh Samui is an island off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus in Thailand. It is the second largest island in Thailand after Phuket. It has an area of 228.7 square kilometers with a population of over 63,000. It has abundant natural resources with white sandy beaches and is an amazing holiday destination.

10. Galapagos Islands: Officially known as the Archipiélago de Colón, the Galapagos Islands are an archipelago of volcanic islands situated on either side of the Equator in the Pacific Ocean, The native language on the islands is Spanish and it has a population of slightly over 25,000.
